Lassen Volcanic National Park
Leaving town is always a bit slow. Got hiking this morning at 10am. Have about 42 miles to cover to the next town, so the 19 or so done today leaves 23 for tomorrow.
Camping tonight at Warner Valley campground in Lassen Volcanic National Park. Seems like a nice campground, let's hope that the bear boxes at ever site aren't a prediction of actual bears since I am camped in the day use area that has no bear box.
Took a short side trail to Terminal Geyser, which isn't really a geyser, but us a pretty large steam vent. There was a pretty relaxed deer enjoying the sulfurous steam on the opposite side from where the trail approached. Looked like a nice place for a deer spa.
Fairly easy hiking today, did six miles in the first couple hours of the day. Will have to do at least that in the coming weeks if I am going to make it to the end of the trail before it starts snowing in the mountains of Washington.
