Miners Creek, PCT mile 2542
Cold weather makes things slow. At least it makes this hiker slower in the mornings. I wake up at 5:30am and used to be ready to go by around 7. But now it is closer to 7:30.
Cold has also made my phone annoying. It looses track of the battery charge and shuts down even when it has over 70% charge. Today it did that and now it wants me to log into Apple's server. It is very insistent. To the tune of popping up a notification every few seconds. Very annoying. Sorry dumb phone, there is a reason you are in airplane mode, there is no cell service here in the wilderness.
Anyway, one big climb for the day, up to around 6000 feet again, and back to the snow. But today featured clear skies and sunshine. Good thing for the sun, since it melted some of the ice off the trail, which was rather slippery in places.
Camping tonight at a reasonable elevation but it is still cold.
No pictures of the snow thanks to my phone deciding to shut down in the cold. Instead, enjoy my freezing olive oil. More gel than oil.
