Highway 2, Stevens Pass to Campsite above Lake Janus

Mile 2471, Lake Janus.

As usually when leaving a town, got a late start. Started hiking somewhere around 2pm, but with only ten miles planned, made it to camp before 6:30.

Unfortunately the next planned resupply is a fair distance away, so I am carrying six days of food. And with the cold weather I am eating more, so my backpack is heavy.

2021 Update:

As usual when leaving a town, we got a late start. Started hiking somewhere around 2pm, but with only ten miles planned, we still made it to camp before 6:30.

Unfortunately the next planned resupply is a fair distance away, so I am carrying six days of food. And with the cold weather I am eating more, so my backpack is heavy.

With the cold, we burn more calories. So, extra olive oil goes in when I cook dinner. Trying to carry more fatty foods too, but fat is generally heavy.
