Highway 35, Barlow Pass to Timberline Lodge

Timberline Lodge

Short day today, we spent last night in a cosy cabin with Tim and my mom. They dropped us off at Barlow Pass where we left off and we hiked the five mile climb to Timberline Lodge on the slopes of Mount Hood. We happened upon Stitch and Pigpen at the pass and they both decided hiking the five miles without a pack sounded great, so Tim drove their packs up to the lodge along with mine and Mighty Mouse's and Share Bear's.

We made it to the lodge and immediately helped ourselves to the lunch buffet.

After lunch we explored the lodge a bit. It dates from the 1930's and was a WPA building project. The movie "The Shining" was partly filmed at the lodge.

After lunch we relaxed for the rest of the day, doing laundry and sorting food for the next few days.
