Campsite at mile 1803.33 to Crater Lake National Park, Mazama Village Campground

Wait, I thought we had time before the cold...

Woke up to temperatures in the low 30's. There was frost on the ground as we walked the trail in the morning. Makes for good hiking but poor sleeping when it's unexpected.

Hiked through a pretty extensive burn area and encountered many blow downs on the trail.

Got to Mazama Villiage in Crater Lake National Park today. Camping in the hiker/biker part of the campground. I briefly chatted with a cyclist who was on a trip from Portland to Los Angeles. Traveling on wheels sometimes sounds very appealing, especially when I am working hard going downhill.

Although we are in the Crater Lake campground, no views yet of the lake itself.

The PCT doesn't actually go to the lake rim, so tomorrow we will take an alternative trail so we can hike around part of the rim or the lake.
