Paved Dead Indian Memorial Road to Campsite at mile 1782.26

Enjoying the cold front.

Hiked just over 23 miles today.

The morning featured several miles of crossing lava rock fields.
The afternoon featured many trees blown down onto the trail. Oregon seems to have a lot of trees, but at least in the area I walked though today it seems as if there are as many on the ground as standing.

Fortunately the temperature has been cool, which makes the hiking easier. The elevation changes in Oregon so far have been a bit more gradual than I was seeing in California, but the trail is not easy by any means.

2021 Update:

Enjoying the cold front.

Hiked just over 23 miles today.

The morning featured several miles of crossing lava rock fields.

Sometimes the trails through the lava fields were almost dirt, but mostly they were small chunks of lava. Very tough on shoes, cuts up the rubber soles of the shoes fairly quickly.
